THE RISE OF THE FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR

As recently as 40 years ago, you could have been denied something as basic as a personal loan simply because of your gender.

A woman was unable to open a bank account without her husband’s signature, or if you were single, you would require your father’s signature. A woman could also be denied entry to a bar on the basis of her gender, even if she was spending the money she earned (yes, we know, unbelievable!)

We have come some way since. Today, over 45% of entrepreneurs in Hong Kong are women - a sign of progress that we are celebrating in the final installment of our ‘She Can. So She Did’ series.

‘The Rise of the Female Entrepreneur’ will give you a chance a chance to meet some of the women who have broken the mold, leaving their corporate roles to go at it alone and start their own business.

Whether you are an established business owner or an aspiring entrepreneur, our talk will give you an opportunity to discuss the issues women are still facing today in their careers and how we can work together to build a gender-balanced world.

After all, the theme for this year's International Women’s day is #BalanceforBetter.

WHO YOU’LL MEET?

Moderated by the inspiring Olivia Lee, Co-Founder of The Closeteur, our panel will feature 3 fierce female entrepreneurs paving the way for women with dreams of becoming their own boss: Diane Younes, Founder & CEO of sponge, Tricia Yap, Founder of Warrior Academy & Belinda Esterhammer, CEO of Springboard Group

Tickets: $100 per person, includes food & drinks plus unlimited networking!

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Women's Foundation HK 婦女基金會 , a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong.
